Hi all,
We have a NEW after school option, as well as expanded art offerings!
Art will now be available on most Wednesdays, as well as Tuesdays and Thursdays. See the November schedule and sign up sheet in the office.
Loida is offering a special class on Mondays, beginning next week, November 9:
CHARACTER COUNTS
Building Character Through Film and Literature
Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Fairness, Citizenship
I have long held a commitment to a holistic educational experience in the classroom. I believe that a child's emotional education is as important (if not more so) as his intellectual growth.
This is why I am proud to announce that, after much thought and research, I will be offering an after school program that will focus on the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, caring, fairness and citizenship.
By using film, literature and poetry we will stimulate discussion and learn how to identify these six characteristics.
We will:
- Define and explore what each of these characteristics mean.
- Identify these characteristics when we see them in our everyday lives.
- Find the courage within ourselves to live by these characteristics.
- Encourage and inspire others to live up to their inner strengths.
- Do hands-on activities such as art projects, community service, role-playing, etc. to practice these characteristics.
November is the perfect month to begin this endeavor. It brings to mind words such as gratitude, compassion, helping others and forgiveness.
Sessions will start out on Mondays from 3:30 Ð 5:00 p.m., starting November 9, 2009. Depending on interest and enrollment we will consider adding a second day. If you are interested in having your child join us in bringing these words to life, please contact Loida to enroll:
