November 30, 2009

Hi all,

Hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving! We have several time-sensitive things to remind/tell you about that can't wait for Thursday:

SCHOLASTIC ORDERS DUE TODAY
Please drop off your order form at pickup today. Checks should be made out to Tara Henery.

PARENT BOOK GROUPS
Our parent book groups start tomorrow at 7 pm; the other group will meet Thursday at 6 pm. Choose one or the other. The book being discussed is Alfie Kohn's "Unconditional Parenting." Don't stay away just because you haven't finished the book-- there's a DVD the groups can opt to watch part of that will give you enough information to be able to participate thoughtfully in the discussion.

DANCE CLASS STARTS TOMORROW
If you were thinking about signing your child up for Jade Addae's after school dance class, please do so TODAY; class starts tomorrow at 3:30.

HOLIDAY BOOK EXCHANGE
Our annual book exchange will be held on Friday, December 18. In order to be prepared for the exchange, we'll need the slip that is currently in your child's hanging folder in the office returned by THIS FRIDAY, 12/4. Your child will draw the name of another child on Monday, 12/7; you'll have until 12/18 to find one of the books on the other child's wish list. Please turn your child's wish list form into the office. If you know that your child will NOT be participating in the book exchange because you'll be out of town, etc, please let me know ASAP.

PLEASE COMPLETE ONLINE SURVEY
The parent survey that we ask you to complete twice each year is available online this year. Your feedback is very important to us and we're hoping the ease and convenience of having it online will improve the return rate. Please take a moment to click the links and fill out the survey (please complete parts 1 AND 2)! You are welcome to use the computer in the office to complete it if it's more convenient for you!
The survey must be completed in two parts:
Part 1: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/C832FZL
Part 2: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/C8DLNXV

GRASS SEED PLANTED
For morning meeting this morning the kids planted grass seed on the bare spots on the playground, then covered the seed with straw. We were granted a perfect soaking immediately upon completion of our task! If you're spending time on the playground, please help kids remember that there's grass trying to germinate under there and the straw needs to stay where it is. Hopefully this will cut down on the number of muddy clothes coming home...
