Preschool is where children usually have their first exposure to a more formalized learning environment. Here at Swan School we are focused on and dedicated to making your child's first encounter with the school setting a safe and joyous experience.
In keeping with Swan School's core values, the Discoverers classroom makes this first experience an exciting, fun-filled, magical journey. This is done in a secure and supportive environment where children's physical, intellectual and emotional well-being is nurtured.
After many years of working with young children, I have found that a thematic approach helps focus attention, interest and understanding of the subject matter. We begin the school year with the unit "Discovering Me", then branch out to "Families" and "Where I Live". As the year progresses and I become more familiar with the children, their interest and strengths, we will explore new units of learning, while investing them in their learning process.
Children have a natural desire to learn. They approach the world with unvarnished curiosity and enthusiasm. As educators we share in the awe and joy that they experience on their journey of Discovery.
